What 24/7 really requires
Continuous coverage needs at least three shifts plus relief for leave and attrition — realistically six to eight seats before supervision. Below that, blend a smaller night pod with an after-hours bot and a queued-response SLA.
India's timezone helps: US night shifts are daytime in some rotations, which is why night staffing is easier to hold there than onshore.
Cost of night and weekend coverage
Night differentials typically add 10–20% per seat hour, plus transport allowances in some cities. Weekend-only pods usually cost more per hour than weekday seats because utilisation is lower.
Ask whether supervision and QA also run overnight. Unsupervised night shifts are where quality quietly collapses.
Blending AI with a night shift
A well-scoped bot can absorb overnight order-status and FAQ volume, leaving a small human pod for anything involving money or frustration. That combination is usually cheaper and better than a thin, unsupervised full night team.
